The “Stone City”

Ideally situated in the middle of Sweden near the mouths of the Ljungan and Indalsälven rivers. The Sundsvall region, home to some 115,000 people, is the most densely populated area of northern Sweden. It plays a prominent role, not only in sports, industry and commerce, but also in education, culture and the arts.

Getting Around The City 

Air Travel

Stockholm Arlanda Airport is the closest major airport to Sundsvall. The flight from Stockholm Arlanda Airport (or Bromma) to Sundsvall takes less than an hour. Two airlines that fly to Sundsvall are SAS and  Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA).

Please note that there are no direct flights from the United States to Sundsvall.  

Public Transit

There is a great network of bus routes operated by the public transport company in Sundsvall called Din Tur. Cabs are also available in Sundsvall. You can find them at the local designated taxi ranks. Cycling is also becoming very common in Sundsvall, as emerging cycling paths are being created. All are viable, efficient options when traveling throughout the city. 

Foot Travel

Although Sundsvall is located in a hilly area by the coast, it is said to be easily manageable by foot. The nearby areas of Timrå and Ljustorp spread across two idyllic valleys. The scenery is worth a visit alone, but for those wanting to cover some ground, there are beautiful hiking and canoe trails to discover. The views are spectacular, and fishing enthusiasts will be well-catered for.
